CLS helps people obtain and preserve necessities of life including health and mental healthcare coverage, social security benefits, food and economic assistance.
In order to improve and maintain the stability of families and individuals, CLS places a high priority on cases and matters in which members of our client community are denied access to vital healthcare services and essential economic supports. Clients seeking legal assistance regarding these types of issues may receive services ranging from resource referrals to formal representation at administrative hearings or court.
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY HEALTHCARE SERVICES?
CLS advocates on behalf of individuals and families who have been denied coverage or services, or face reductions in services, through state health care insurance programs administered by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the Arizona Department of Economic Security(DES), and the Arizona Department of Health services (DHS). These programs include: Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS), Medicare Cost Savings programs, the Division of Developmental Disabilities services, and behavioral health services.
WHAT ARE ECONOMIC SUPPORTS?
CLS offers legal assistance to Arizonans who have been denied access to essential economic supports. Areas of focus include Social Security disability claims (SSI/SSDI), Temporary Aid to Needy Families (cash assistance), and claims for nutritional assistance (food stamps). We also offer assistance in matters such as Social Security/SSI overpayments, nutrition assistance overpayments, incorrect benefit calculations and other issues stemming from these programs.
